Pink Diamond Jewels That Will Leave You Mesmerized

Similar to many fancy diamonds around the world, pink diamonds in particular are extremely rare and exuberantly priced. The gorgeous bubblegum pink hue is among the rarest colors of the niche. With limited supply, pink diamonds are highly coveted globally. The Argyle Diamond Mine in Western Australia is known to produce 80% of the world’s pink diamonds – and they are so rare that less than an entire year’s worth of supply over half a carat would fit in the palm of one’s hand! The alluring pink color makes it highly valued and prized for many collectors.

The Argyle Mine is anticipated to close by the end of 2020, thus the supply of pink diamonds is expected to drop and the scarcity of these already coveted diamonds will deepen. Furthermore, experts predict that the substantial shortage of pink diamonds will result to a steep price incline.

Pink diamonds are mined yearly and out of every 1 million carats, only 1 carat is suitable for the market.

Natural Pink Diamonds

Pink diamonds are the only color diamonds that have no additional elements. Most color diamonds obtain its color from inclusions, such as nitrogen for yellow, and boron for blue. However, the color pink doesn’t come from any inclusions, but rather from its crystal lattice distortion. It’s imperfection makes it unique and very hard to replicate in the lab. Thus, lab grown diamonds at this moment are unable to replicate a natural pink diamond entirely.

There is more than one variation of pink and the more intense the pink the more valuable it is. Pink diamonds often come with a secondary hue thus making every pink diamond unique. The secondary hues are purple-pink, orange-pink, and brown-pink.
