Johnnie Walker Blue Label Mentor
Earlier this year, I was humbled to have the opportunity of being invited as part of the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Mentorship Programme. To top it all off, the specially curated trip by the JWBL team to Craigellachie, Scotland was an experience hard to forget. Which is why, I’m penning down the beautiful and insightful trip I had getting to understand the cultural history and heritage behind the Johnnie Walker Blue Label brand.
As I checked into the Craigellachie Hotel in Speyside, Scotland, it was just the start of fully grasping in the artisanship of whisky blending and what makes it a rare and incredible blend.
The following days were spent touring the distilleries, the making of the casks and seeing the process behind making the Blue Label bottle. Interestingly enough, did you know only 1 in 10,000 bottles make it to being a Blue Label Johnnie Walker?
Not only was the distillery tour a wonderful experience, but learning that the driving force behind Johnnie Walker was a female in the late 1880s so intriguing!
